We've teamed up with legendary Space Nightclub Ibiza to offer 4 DJ finalists the chance to play a set this season at Space, with the winner being offered a Space residency in 2009!

A prize that will put your name on the international DJ map.

Space is looking for new DJ Talent

Hosting the world's very finest DJ's throughout the summer in Ibiza, Space is celebrated by DJs and clubbers as the pinnacle of their clubbing experience. Top end sound systems, designer décor, huge up-for-it crowds and the natural home for our range of professional DJ gear.

In a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Space reach out to the up and coming DJ community through DJsounds to find a new DJ to hold a conveted residency at the club in 2009.

Make no mistake, the standards are high for this competition and you must meet these criteria to enter:

You must...

  • Be both a very capable DJ and be able to create and produce your own music

  • Film and submit your own YouTube video clip link to DJsounds via the below form. The video must include you mixing from a track of your choice into one of your own productions (max. 2 track mix in total, excluding a cappella's if used)

  • Your video length should be no more than 5 minutes

  • Show you're comfortable on CD decks as you'll be performing on CDJ-1000MK3's at Space if you're a selected finalist

the process

  • Judges decide...
    Our panel of judges will select 5-10 of the best videos from those submitted from each competition heat and feature them on DJsounds.com on the Competition Channel.

    Video Upload Deadlines
     Heat 1: 19 June
    Heat 2: 3 July
    Heat 3: 17 July
    Heat 4: 30 July

  • The public decides...
    DJsounds viewers will be able to watch and vote for their favourite videos from the heat selection, with the overall winner being chosen by the judges from the 3 most voted
  • Finalists are selected...
    Multiple votes for the same entry by the same user will not be counted.
    The Finalists will be announced on DJsounds.com through the competition pages.
    The winning Finalists will be contacted by Pioneer and flown to Ibiza with accommodation on the given dates to perform a live set at Space in the Red Box Room. This room has 3 CDJ-1000mk3, a DJM-800 and a EFX-1000
  • Judges and Space DJs decide...
    A panel of judges including resident DJ's at Space will listen to your set and after all 4 heats have taken place, an overall winner will be announced at the end of August 2008.
  • A new star is born...
    The overall winner will be offered a monthly Space Residency throughout the 2009 season.

tips

  • Keep to cutting edge dance music genres as Space would expect
  • Keep the judges interested by utilising appropriate tricks / effects if possible
  • Try to keep the clip length to a minimum
  • You'll be judged on both mixing ability and your music production talent on the second track equally so don't let yourself down with an average self produced track
  • Add a quick intro about yourself at the start of the clip (just DJ name and quick explanation of track 2 - your own production).
