Interview: Dave DK in Berlin

Sun 28.12.2008

DJsounds’ German team gets the lowdown from Berlin-based tech-house DJ/producer Dave DK, aka David Krasemann. In this interview (filmed at the end of October) Dave discusses his initiation into electronic dance music, the influence of hearing the sounds of Detroit in club Tresor, Berlin, his studio projects and much more. Live DJ footage meanwhile, comes from the Arena venue in Berlin. Back in 1999 Dave became resident DJ at club Tresor/Globus in Berlin. This proved to be a solid foundation for what was to come. A residency at Panorama Bar followed, along with more international gigs, and an ever-growing discography of deep and melodic productions and remixes. As a producer Dave has been releasing records since 1998, cultivating his sound on labels such as Raum, Television Records, Cadeaux and, most recently, Playhouse. In 2000 he unleashed his first album, Sensory Overload on Müller Records. His second, Lights and Colours, arrived in 2007 on Moodmusic, the label that also released his ‘Volar Remixes’ project earlier this year. As Dave explains in the clip, we can expect more remixes to come from his last album, together with ongoing collaborations with Holger Zilske, aka Smash TV. Words: LRC
