In this clip, you can watch London’s AV Social, headed up by Oli Sorenson and his Ne1co imprint, as the event showcases some exciting new audio-visual work at the BFI as part of the BFI’s 75th anniversary. Down on the Southbank reporting for DJsounds, first up Issy Stainforth chats to Oli, who launched his new DVD album, Subject Zero, with a special live BFI reshuffle. Guy Hornsby then talks to Steve from 8bit artists Steve and Pikilipita. The guys performed an interesting AV set using games consoles, and here Steve explains how it was done. Guy also catches up with the multimedia artist Davide Quagliola aka Quayola, who presented Path to Abstraction, a project inspired by waveforms. And, to complete the clip, Issy tracks down DVJ aficionado Dan Tait to talk SVM technology, AV manipulation and video sets. It’s not often that you see people dancing to minimal techno (visualised) at the BFI, but, as you can see, the crowd certainly didn’t take this episode of the AV Social sitting down! Words: LRC
