Have a look and listen to the deeper, more vocal side of dance music on the island in this report that focuses on Swiss DJ/producer Jamie Lewis and the adventures of his soulful house label Purple Music in Ibiza.

To find out more, DJsounds’ Lorna Cole sits down with Jamie on a cozy lounger at the trendy Ushuaia beach club. Here, they talk about everything from a cappellas and his label to Jamie’s DJ career, which spans three decades and numerous sub-genres of house.

Lorna then checks out the Purple Music pre-party, and later joins Jamie for one of his uplifting DJ sets at club El Divino, where the label has been pumping up the funk (à la Jamie’s new joint ‘Mo’ Butter’ featuring Kim Cooper) every Monday since 6th July.

Purple Music is set to return to El Divino for 2010.
