31-year-old DJ/producer Matt Phantom from London, UK, is the fourth and final contender in DJsounds’ Space Ibiza DJ competition. Here Mel Sutton chats to the super-versatile selector about house, breaks and mixing on snowboards.

One half of the successful breakbeat duo Phantom Beats, Matt Phantom also works solo as Phantom Geek and is a resident DJ at Big Chill events in London.

Production-wise, Matt currently is talking to a few labels about releasing his new house productions under the Phantom Geek alias – while also in the pipeline are more breaks productions as Phantom Beats and a downtempo electronica album under the name Rococo Nice.

In his DJsounds’ video mix Matt used his own track, produced as Phantom Geek, called ‘Chasing the Bass’, plus an a cappella entitled ‘Geek!’.

As Heat 4’s finalist, Matt now joins Heat 1’s Lewis Ryder, Heat 2’s Carlton and Heat 3’s winner Matt Cooper.

In the clip Mel also tracks down Space’s production manager, Pedro, to find out how the competition will be judged.
