The English-born DJ/producer Chris Lake lived and worked in Scotland for many years before winning international acclaim in his early-20s with the huge club hit ‘Changes’. He has since DJ’d around the globe and continued making original productions, while remixing tracks by such high-profile artists as Robbie Williams/Pet Shop Boys, Kyle Minogue, and Mark Ronson/Lily Allen.
Here Mel Sutton catches up with Chris for a quick chat during the Cream pre-party at Kanya. Live club footage, meanwhile, comes from both Kanya and Cream at Amnesia.
In the interview, Chris talks about his studio tan and the big tracks that have helped him make an impact over the years, including that bootleg (created under the alias of Christophe D’Abuc) of The Prodigy’s ‘Climbatize’.
He also touches on what’s new to his own Rising Music and Rising Trax imprints, such as the track ‘Speechless’ by Lys from Italy and collaborations with Max Vangeli.
Chris’ own 2008 summer smash ‘The One EP’ is out now on Rising Music, too, and he returns to play Cream at Amnesia on 25th September.
