Canadian-based DJ Sean Gallagher from Vancouver sent in this introductory CDJ-1000 tutorial that covers stuff like hot cues, looping and the direction/reverse mode – so hit ‘play’ to find out more…
Besides DJing professionally, Sean is a DJ coach and runs his own blog called Learn to DJ Fast, where he supplies free advice to up-and-coming DJs and occasional reports on the clubbing scene.
He also broadcasts video tutorials, like the one you see here, which is taken from his tips on equipment.

Good videos and blog but a word of warning- many of the blog posts are a tad along the lines of “learn to DJ, get women and a bucket load of cash”. Although this is the case for the few it isn’t for the many;). You should get into DJing for the love of music and not really for the cash/drugs/models, so if Sean does read this, keep it in perspective please;).

Hey Ed,
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree with you 100%. To be honest I don’t like promoting that side of the industry but that is what gets a lot of new DJs excited to learn.
When I started out, I LOVED the music and wasn’t planning on being a DJ. I was just making CDs for my friends. If you will follow my email newsletter I make it clear that you can’t be successful at DJing if you are in it for the wrong reasons (cash / drugs / models).
That being said, the lifestyle portrayed is real (cash & girls). These are just benefits of being a successful DJ!
Weather you have the dedication and love for the music to make this a reality is up to you Ed.

Thanks for the reply- in fairness the tone of the site is generally quite good. Don’t know where you are playing, but frankly round where I live you’d be lucky to get a tenner and a Mars bar for DJing all night:).

I think thats how it is in a lot of places. That being said, in ANY city you go to you can find the odd guy that does get paid VERY well. Its usually the guys that been around for years and have the best nights in town.

Don’t buy their DVD series because the 30 day free trial is a scam. I bought it on January 28th but they haven’t responded to any of my emails, phone calls, blog comments, youtube comments, twitter mentions, or anything else. They are just going to continue ignoring my emails concerning return information until the 30 day time window has passed!

Sean Gallagher has kept billing me for over 5 months with NO login to the website and just ONE crappy DVD sent in my mail that shows me the BASICS of djing!! Stuff I’ve BEEN doing for years.. I wanted to learn how to promote myself, which Sean promises to teach in his DVD series.. and instead, he briefly mentions it in the first DVD and says there will be a DVD dedicated to that… NEVER got that DVD or any OTHER DVD for that matter, couldn’t log into any of the websites, AND they’ve kept charging me for over 5 months ($9.95 every month!!!!)….
The DVD that I got was not worth over $50… DONT FALL FOR THIS TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!
