DJsounds hooks up with DJ Yoda during his first ever trip to Musikmesse – an immense international trade show held annually in Frankfurt, Germany.

DJ Yoda is a high priest of humour driven hip-hop turntablism who took to mixing and scratching DVDs like it was the most natural thing in the world. In fact, in an interview included on his 2006 DVD, DJ Yoda Goes to the Movies, he even took a trip to a zoo to explain the evolution of the DJ into the audiovisual realm.

Here at Musikmesse we speak to the highly evolved maestro of beat conscious movie montage about life as a DJ in 2007, and about how he masterfully manipulated a seamless stream of video on Pioneer’s stand during the show. He also talks about his eclectic new promo DVD, DJ Yoda Goes to the Movies 2, and his latest single, Playin’ Around, featuring the Jungle Brothers, which is taken from his 2006 debut album, The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda (Antidote Records).

You can catch DJ Yoda live at a host of festivals this summer, including the Primavera Sound and Benicassim festivals in Spain, and Glastonbury, the Big Chill and Creamfields in the UK.
