DJ/DVJ Dan Tait recorded the first cover-mount DVD mix (Just a DVJ Mix) for iDJ magazine in 2008. Here, in part 2 of his interview, he talks about the technology and effects that featured, as well as some of the techniques that were used during its making.
To make his mix Dan used the SVM-1000, which mixes video together using an ‘additive dissolve’ process. (Basically, this means when the cross fader is between two video tracks the resulting image will appear brighter rather than darker.)
He also shows how touch effects, available via the SVM’s touch-screen, were an intuitive way to manipulate the mix.
You can check out the mix as a podcast on Dan’s site.
