hi, what software is James using to mix with the laptop and what connection lead do you need to the laptop or i could say in general how do you mix a laptop with a djm 800 and turntable ? because the video is not specific enough even with a cdj-1000. cheers from shulz
He is using Ableton Live hooked up to the DJM 800 using a midi lead - this transmits the control data from the DJM 800 to the laptop.
To get the audio from the laptop he then uses a seperate firewire soundcard that is then connected to the mixer using standard audio phono leads into available channels on the mixer - (oh and of course he uses firewire to connect his laptop to the soundcard).

you excuse to me, as it is connected of precise the portable one to the mixer? which cables? which audio card? which passages to make? and that version of ableton must be used?thanks a lot…

Can i hook my djm400 to any lap top? I want to be able to use Virtual DJ, cuz VDJ got awsome volume change display and great beat match/beat correction huge library of samples and effects. Is it possible to use them with the djm400 cdj800mk2? I hod HP pavilion laprtop.
