Having checked out the 400’s Roll effect with Sarah in part 3, here we move on to the deck’s other two digital jog break effects – Jet and Wah – which are used in CDJ mode. First up we look at the Jet effect, a swooshing sound, produced by a delayed signal/phase effect. Sarah also shows how you can cut beats at the same time as using effects like Jet, for more distinctive builds and breakdowns. Lastly we take a trip into Wah country. The Wah effect is like a full (high or low pass) filter, the dynamics of which depend on use of the Jog Wheel. Spinning the platter, fast or slow, clockwise or anti-clockwise, can produce different sounds. And there is also a Hold button to maintain the chosen effect until the button is released, when the music returns to its native state. Words: LRC
