DJ Matt Cooper is a Mixmag Future Hero, resident at Dirty Disco and a demon on the CDJs and EFX. Here he presents his first tip for DJsounds: Rhythm Wah, for the EFX-1000. Says Matt: 'This trick enables you to add an additional element to a track, injecting something different into a drum pattern or part of a track that might need spicing up a little. 'The best sound to achieve this trick with is a drone, which is easily created making a short loop around a kickdrum on the CDJ, and then tightening that loop so it creates the desired sound. 'Once you have done this, select the filter effect on the beat section of the EFX, select the depth and effect to one o’clock, character to zero, and switch it on. Then, go into rhythm mode. This will enable you to tap-in your desired rhythm over the track by hitting the tap button. Et Voila! 'Don’t forget to vary this trick by playing with different rhythms and effects, or maybe incorporate the jog effects as well to give even more depth and diversity to your own signature tricks! 'Enjoy!!' http://www.myspace.com/djmattcooper
