Catching up with James Zabiela, he tells us about his excitement at being the first person to use the CDJ 2000s in public since their launch in September.

Later on we watch him smash Shindig to pieces using the new CDJs, trustee EFX 1000, DJM 800 and Korg Kaoscillator, all on his updated rider. He explains how he uses the new CDJ as a midi controller and the joys of turning up to DJ with just an SD card, and tagging tracks.

Shindig in Newcastle is in its 18th year, and is one of the UK's longest running club nights, having been based in a variety of homes over the course of its lifetime. With a capacity of only 700 in its current venue, World Headquarters, and stella names such as JZ, John Digweed and Danny Howells, this is one hot party with an electric atmosphere!

They celebrate their 18th birthday in May with some very special guests. James has an upcoming tour of Mexico and the US starting on 25 February, playing at Guadalajara, Monterrey, Playa del Carmen, Puebla, Los Angeles and Miami.
