How to DJ: Episode 1 - Entering the Scene With Sarah Main (Part 2 of 5)
We’re back with Pacha DJ Sarah Main at her villa in Ibiza for another instalment of How to DJ. Remember, this episode is all about helping those who are starting out and focuses on the fundamentals of DJing; things only get truly tricky in Episodes 2 & 3, when Phil K and James Zabiela show off more advanced tweakin’!
After covering such topics as music monitoring and beatmixing, here Sarah returns to fill us in on the best way to cue up tracks in the mix. This is done by learning to recognise the structure of music and by drawing upon the beat/bar/phrase counting techniques outlined in Part 1 (4 beats in a bar, 8 bars in a phrase etc).
Sarah also explains auto-cueing, the creation of cue points, and the ‘correct and adjust’ mixing technique.
Look out for parts 3, 4 and 5 with Sarah Main, coming soon to DJsounds.
How to DJ is produced by DJdownload.com and Ministry of Sound TV and stars Sarah Main (Episode 1), Phil K (Episode 2) and James Zabiela (Episode 3).
